Music I associate with my early childhood

I never really noticed until the past few months that some of the music that holds some really strong kiddie nostalgia for me is, well, not what one would expect a child of 4-9 years to listen to. I'll add to this list as I find more, but here's a start. Some of it isn't quite as strange as others, but I'm putting it all down.

Early years (when I was between 4-9 years old):
Meatloaf
The KLF
Roxette
Dr. Alban
Genesis
The Dubliners
Roger Whittaker (his Irish collection CD)
Smash Mouth
Queen
Niel Diamond

Later years (9-14 years old):
The Aquabats
Blink-182
Smash Mouth (this one is ambiguous)
Billy Joel
Frank Sinatra

I am rather excited today, though. I figured out how to get into classes AND I found where I can do laundry in my building. FRIGGIN' SCORE.

I keep forgetting my passwords

This is not a good thing when I can't just stay signed in and post from my laptop all the time, but that's life, I suppose.

So... I'm in Germany, studying at the university in Tübingen. I'm going to *try* to update at least once a week, but I think we all know how likely that's going to be...

Anyway, I've had a few adventures so far. Like purposely getting myself lost, wandering around until I found the tourist information building, buying myself a map (of the entire city, not just the Altstadt), and using it to get back home. I should probably point out here that I am very adept at reading maps.

I have no internet in my dorm, and the nearest internet cafe is a 10-minute bus ride away, but that's just fine with me. It gives me a reason to get my lazy butt out of bed and into town, which by the way is awesome-looking. I'll post pictures as soon as I can upload them, which will probably be in a couple of weeks.

Uh... I love German candy. And so far I like living here just as much as living in Bozeman, because here the efficient bus system, tasty candy, and other things make up for the fact that I can't understand half of what's being said to me.

Note to self: start writing down interesting stories so that I don't forget them when I want to post a new entry here.

The joys of CSS coding

So I'm trying to make my gaiaonline profile all nice and pretty, but apparently I fail at CSS coding because not all the text is red and the things in there don't line up the way I want them to and some things aren't there at all, unless I just forgot to add them in the first place, in which case I need to go over everything again.

Fred's Tübingen Adventure

So I had to do this presentation for MLG220 yesterday (MLG = Modern Language German) and my topic was 'a day in the life of an exchange student at Tübingen University, so I went all-out with some very beautiful pictures. I thought I'd share it here because it's so fantastic. But it will be in German, so if you don't understand it you'll have to guess.

Edit: Okay, so some of the German on here is incorrect. I will fix it later when I'm not trying to convince myself to go to BED.

Fred mag an Restaurants manchmal essen.

THE END.

Wheeeee

So whenever someone writes a review on ff.net or comments on a youtube video, and it's clear to me that said person has no idea what they're talking about because (amazingly) I know better, I spend a few minutes thinking up and writing a reply that should hopefully put them in their place. I need to get better at this, because some of these people give me enough material to work with that I could really write a beautiful response. I also need to stop looking at these as insults, but as a chance to flex some creative muscles. Wheeeee.

Still no computer. Had test on Thursday that I didn't do well on. Another test on Tuesday. Tired.

Watched Kaiba over the weekend. It's a pretty awesome anime.

Agh

It's almost officially been two weeks since I applied for the computer loan thingy. If I don't hear from financial aid this week I may very well explode. I'm kind of sick of having to use the computer lab all the time.

Updated wish list

Well, since I've gotten a couple of things (or will certainly be getting them soon), and I've probably thought of some things since then, I am updating my wish list.

Pants
What If? by Anne Bernays
Whatever Aquabats! CD I have not yet gotten (too lazy to look up the name - it's got something to do with an eyeball) (plus their first one, since I do not have that at the moment)
digital video camera
the 'math is delicious!' shirt from the questionable content store
the 'I feel pretty' shirt from the QC store
QC library science shirt
QC kittymonster shirt
I wish Jeph would stop making shirts I want to buy
friends
money (lol i am so broke)
Two more wii remotes and another nunchuk
more wii games, like that carnival one and that minigolf one
Katamari Damacy
long-sleeved shirts that I can layer (meaning I can wear them under t-shirts without looking stupid)
world peace
other stuff that i can't think of right this minute

I hate the wind

I mean seriously. There is no need for a strong headwind at 8 in the morning when I'm trying to get to work on time. I can't go fast at all when the wind's pushing me back and I have to pedal constantly and strongly just to stay above walking speed.

Something wonderful...

So my sister got me a tablet for Christmas/my birthday. I don't have a computer, so I can't use it right now, but over break, I drew some fantastic pictures on my mom's computer:

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j185/junodog/unicorn.png
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j185/junodog/LAAAAARRRRRRR.png

Notice the blue thing in the second one. Thanks to an online buddy of mine (Deej) it now has a story:

The sun and moon had a child. When he grows up and doesn't have to follow around the sun anymore, he will dwell in the sky during a new six hour period that will be added onto the traditional 24 hour day between the moon's setting and the sun's coming up. During this time, the sky will turn a bloody plaid, and soon after, the "mun" will rise and grin unsettlingly at the earth (see Juno's scientific illustration or the more basic ) until it sets. One a month, during a full mun, it will sing a bawdy song at approximately 5:30 AM; 4:30 during daylight savings time.

Someday the Mun will make it into my collection of avatars on here, and I plan on using it as a background for a certain play I'm writing.

Also, I shall be getting a new computer as soon as the financial aid stuff goes through. As long as they have what I want in stock at the bookstore. Which they hopefully will. That'll be a relief, because having to do a whole bunch of extra stuff to copy image codes from photobucket is really a pain in the butt.

Toy-box

iTunes needs moar toy-box. Or at least this song, because I would totally be willing to do that dance.

On another note, I'm finished tutoring for the semester. I'll miss seeing the kids I work with, but I'm very glad I don't have to get up super-early for the next month. Though I might end up doing that anyway, depending on what mommy's got planned for me.

Poor Hanners...

http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1293

Jeph sure is good at drawing creepy pictures. XD

In other news, the fire alarm went off last night. Some guy on the fifth floor hit the sprinkler system pipes in the main pod a bit too hard and the sprinklers went off, thus setting off the fire alarm. From what I heard, the RA's room had like two inches of water in it, and there was water on all the floors below that. I'm glad I live on seventh.
And of course, someone on sixth floor decided to make popcorn at 1 am and FAILED MISERABLY, because the fire alarm went off again. At least the second time I was in my room and I was able to grab a blanket and stuff. I also got to talk to this one guy who'd talked to me a couple times before (mostly during other fire alarms) and it was an actual "hi, I'm so-and-so" kind of meeting. Now I know his name and I don't have to think of him as the dude with the makeup and goth-esque clothes anymore! Go me!

I wonder why he decided to talk to me, though... Meh, whatever. I still don't know anything about social stuff so there's no point in worrying about it.

But more importantly, I got paid today! Yay, I have money again!

Less than two weeks...

Can I make it? Most likely. As long as I ignore the people in the elevator talking about how they never took the elevator when they lived on my floor (HINT HINT, JUNODOG! HURRRR) and then saying that "those extra five floors are too much now, though" (which I found to be hilarious; the highest floor is 11 and that's only 4 floors above me, so someone doesn't know how to count) or the person sitting next to me and being obnoxiously loud while eating whatever the hell it is she's eating. The second one would not be an issue if my computer had made it to the end of the semester, but I suppose the first one was unavoidable, because, unlike some people, I don't want to take the stairs all the time, especially when you consider all the other exercise I get, like walking around campus and BIKING NINE MILES AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK BECAUSE MY JOB REQUIRES IT. Oh snap.
